Muscovado Spiced Buttered Rum

A heart-warming blend of sugar, spice and all things nice … This muscovado spiced buttered rum is smooth and easy drinking, the perfect treat on a cold winters evening to warm you from the inside out.
Ingredients
Muscovado Spiced Syrup:
- ½ cup CSR Muscovado Sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp ground ginger or 4 slices of fresh ginger root
- 6 strips of orange peel
- 8 whole cloves
- 2 whole star anise (optional)
To Serve:
- ¼ cup spiced dark rum per serving
- 1 tsp softened butter per serving
- ½ cup boiling water per serving
Method
- In a small pan, combine the CSR Muscovado Sugar, water, cinnamon stick, orange peel and other spices.
- Bring to the boil, turn the heat down and simmer for 5 mins. Allow to cool and then strain. Bottle until required.
- To serve, using a heatproof glass, add two tablespoons of the Muscovado Spice syrup, one teaspoon softened butter and quarter of a cup of spiced rum per person. Pour half a cup of boiling water over the other ingredients, stir vigorously and enjoy.
